I still don't understand why people bash Justin Timberlake...he is in no way a great visionary or a dynamic artist, but he does his job, and that job is to entertain. I'm happy that BEP did a track with him...i dislike the song, but they deserve success after being relatively unknown for so long. I don't view it as selling out...just a smart business move
eye for an eye and the world goes blind...

I don't think there is anything wrong with doing a track with Justin either. It's not like he's pretending to be something he's not, or trying to bring some socially conscious, or political music. He's making entertaining music, and at least he doesn't carry a fake thug persona with it.
And I do think that BEP are sellouts, but not in the same sense that other artists have sold out. I think BEP are sellouts because the diverse unique sound that was in there previous two albums came naturally. They made the music they wanted to and it sounded different. On Elephunk there diversity sounds forced and contrived like they were trying to be different. It sounds like they've copied the different styles of songs that have earned commercial success in the last 10 years. They haven't sold out like other artists, but they have lost a lot of there artistic integrity in pursuit of sales. Signing Fergie demonstrates that, becuase I agree she does add a nice dynamic to the group, its a very commercial dynamic. Now people know BEP only for Fergie

i agree. their first two albums were muck better than elephunk. but still i think the track would have been better without Justin. I think getting Justin to feature was just to boost the sales riding on his fame. BEP videos are a little disappointing now too, with Fergie dressed skimpy and shakin her ass on the screen I forgot how creative they were with their previous albums.

okayplayer... here's where i disagree with you.
i think justin
is a poser... he just mingles around the right people to make him look better... the neptunes, black eyed peas, timberland, etc... there's a particular kind of arrogance that he exudes which i don't like about him.
but i agree with Djrags' point that he is an entertainer.
btw there's already been a post regarding the black eyed peas, check out the link:

tina... i do agree with you on both points. where is the old BEP with such classic videos as "joints and jam" and "weekends"?
