Anyone up for a lyric/poetry exchange? I think it is good to get your stuff out in the open if you are a writer, and get some constructive criticism. I would be up for e-mail swaps to if anyone is down.

Alright. Well I guess I will start it off. This is a track from me and to friends cd. We are called Reflectioins in The Current and all just turned 18. My two friends are graduating this year and I am left behind for one more year while they go off to live life. We each have a few solo tracks and this is one of mine. doesn't realy have a name yet.
Life's a lesson that can't be taught but must be learned
You may not understand the moment that you hear these words
But that is my point, I can't teach what I mean
But if you keep living and thinking,
I can guarantee the meaning will be seen
Open your mind, open your eyes
wake up from this dream
brake lose start living your life, wash your hands clean
of the shackles for the sake of your happiness
its times to start doing your own thinking
But think peace, love, think twice and think for yourself
Except others opinions, all knowledge is wealth
To be intelligent you must except you can't know everything
and find time for the arts
cause expression is the greatest thing
life is a game, we all have to play
The only way to win though is with positivity
Be proud of the way you are cause its your way
And smile embrace the day, cause everyday's your day
But it's mine too, so don't bring your gray into my blue
If you need to walk a mile I'd be happy to lend you my shoes
My grass may look greener,
but the sun is shining on both sides of the fence
and when the rain comes down, both lawns will be drenched
Now everything that happens to you is a story
And every story has a morale
And now some stories morales aren't so obviouse
and need some more stories
to help previouse morales come to your conciousness
So put the book down, before you go to bed
so you can relfect, on the stories that you've read
Love life, love yourself, and live by your own style
cause in the end when life flashes before your eyes
you want to be able to smile
To live your life, you have to recognise it's yours
to recognise it's yours you got to know who you are
to know who you are you got to let yourself be free
and to let your self be free you've got to let your mind be free
and to let your mind be free you need to wake up and live
your life
so LIVE YOUR LIFE
So any input is welcomed and urged. Peace

well the spirit hasnt moved me to write poetry in a while, but i did a lot in high school. these days i write like journal entries on the universe's day
i had a thought recently, i didnt want it to be true: men, in a relationship, like to be abused and if not abused, will abuse the woman (mentally, verbally, mind game, manipulatively). it seems this way around the way. eg. all except two girlfriends on "queer eye for the straight guy" saw ONLY the house and not their partner; guys complain about women wanting money but who do they go for? Women they'll never stop working for more and more money to please. I am right there in the front lines w/ my girl Josey Vogels who commented on this, that many men dont like patriarchy and its "requirements" any more than women do. I figured so, but the more men I meet the more the above seems to be true.
it is also true, tho, that we are all walking past disappointments in some ways. and many of those are often from our first social relationship: our parents. we carry these templates and repeat the patterns. and one man is redeeming his actions from this these days, as is a woman. and he seems safe, as soon as he gets over the fears that surface with the realisation that it is all ok. so in one case at least the abuse, which went both ways, is a thing of the past.
comments?
